The Essentials Wide Gape X hook has been designed as the perfect all-round pattern, which can be used straight out of the packet for a wide variety of rigs and without the need to add lots of other components – whether you are fishing bottom baits, pop-ups or wafters. The aggressive in-turned eye helps to ensure that it flips over and takes hold in the mouth, without the need to add additional Kickers or shrink tube.

These hooks are manufactured using our ‘X’ gauge wire, creating a strong, durable hook, suitable for use both in the UK and overseas. The point has been designed to be long-lasting and it’s possible to catch multiple fish on the same hook before it needs changing – every time you cast out though, do check it is still sharp and change it if not.

The shape is based upon the incredibly effective original Wide Gape, which has been responsible for catching countless big carp over the years and with an unobtrusive black nickel finish, these Wide Gapes are set to put many more carp on the bank.

Essentials Wide Gape Hooks are available in barbed and barbless versions in sizes 2, 4, 6 and 8, with ten hooks per packet.

The Essentials Story:

“BASIX has evolved into Korda Essentials. Originally, I designed the range to go with the Back to Basix Masterclass, but in recent years, we've realised something. BASIX isn't really basic anymore. The range has grown so much, the kit is so good, that it was befitting a better name, and we felt Essentials was exactly it. It's all the gear you need and nothing that you don't. Whether you've just started carp fishing or you've been fishing for big 'uns for 20 years, it will stand up to the job.” Danny F

The Korda Essentials range offers reliable, good-quality tackle without spending more than you need to. Built around simple methods and accessible products, the range gives anglers everything they need to fish safely, effectively and confidently, without overcomplicating things or requiring them to buy unnecessary components.

Korda Essentials makes good carp fishing tackle more accessible to youngsters, new anglers, occasional anglers and those on a limited budget. It ensures everyone has the tackle they need to catch fish just as well, if not better, than the angler next to them.
